UPDATE: You CAN dress your chickens up for Halloween.
After these reports surfaced, the CDC issued a statement last week refuting circulating reports that it was unsafe to put clothes on a chicken.
Still, the CDC says it's improtant to practice some safety measures, like washing your hands after touching chickens, keeping them outside the house and avoiding kissing the birds. Also, keep children younger than five away from the animals.

Who knew people even DID this? Dressing chickens up for Halloween?
Apparently it's a thing... and it's something the CDC doesn't want you to do this year, because of a Salmonella outbreak.
Here are a few other things the CDC mentioned... which I never knew people actually did:
- Donât let live poultry inside the house, especially in areas where food or drink is prepared, served, or stored.
- Donât eat or drink in the area where the birds live or roam.
- Donât kiss your birds or snuggle them and then touch your face or mouth.
