U2's Bono and The Edge showed their support for Ukraine by putting on a surprise concert in Kyiv subway station-turned-bomb shelter today, at the invitation of Ukrainian President Zelensky.
It was just a small crowd of fans, including members of Ukraineâs armed forces. But Bono told them there was "nowhere in the whole world" he and The Edge would be than in Kyiv.
He said âThe people in Ukraine are not just fighting for your own freedom, you are fighting for all of us who love freedom.â
Afterward, they visited Bucha, the site of a mass grave. Bono told Sky News that âI think itâs one manâs war, really,â and went on to give a message to fans in Russia, saying âI trust in the younger people in Russia to throw this man out of his office,â referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
